He continued his research in the Terahertz time-domain Spectroscopy as a post-doc fellow at CNRS at Bordeaux University, France (2007 – 2008) and as visiting research fellow at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University, Japan, financed by the JSPS from 2008 to 2009. After that, he joined the Astronomy Instrumentation Group at the School of Physics and Astronomy, Cardiff University, United Kingdom, for three years to lead the design of the GaAs bolometer. In 2012, he returned to CNRS at Montpellier University as a senior researcher and co-founded the T-waves company. In 2014, he joined the physics department at Georgetown University, Washington, USA, where he investigated the fundamental physics of hot electron physics in low-dimensional materials. Then, in 2017, he was appointed a Physics professor at Ecole Centrale of Casablanca, Morocco, where he served as the physics department chair. In September 2021, he was appointed as a Physics Associate Professor at the University Mohamed VI Polytechnics, where he helps to develop the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP).

Dr. Abdelouahed El Fatimy has achieved international recognition as a Terahertz photonics and device physics leader.
