Mohamed Ramy El-Maarry<br \/>\nDirector, Space and Planetary Science Center &#8211; Khalifa University of Science and Technology, UAE<\/p>\n<p>IAP Physics Seminar Series will occur on\u00a0<b>Tuesday 17 April 24, at 14:00<\/b>\u00a0at the UM6P campus (<strong>Ryad 8, 1st floor<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Abstract:<\/span><\/b><\/span><span class=\"x_apple-converted-space\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">In this seminar, Pr. Mohamed Ramy El-Maarry is planning to give a short review of the significance of studying small bodies in our solar system, focusing afterwards on two future missions he is involved in: Comet Interceptor, and the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA). He will also go through the main missions&#8217; architecture, the science questions they aim to address, and how Earth-based observations may help both missions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Biography<\/span><\/b><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Mohamed Ramy El-Maarry earned his bachelors degree in Geology and Chemistry in Cairo University. He followed it up with two European masters degrees in Sweden and France, and a PhD in Goettingen University in Germany for his work at the Max-Planck institute for solar system research. Dr El-Maarry has been involved with numerous space missions since 2006 for both ESA, NASA, and recently the UAE Space Agency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">He is currently the director of the \u201cSpace and Planetary Science Center\u201d and an associate professor of planetary sciences at Khalifa University in the United Arab Emirates.
