A significant stride in this realm involves the integration of optical fibers (OFs) with coatings of 2D materials, enabling bidirectional transmission of electrical and optical signals. This integration offers a blend of OFs’ proficiency in optical signal transmission and the unique electrical transmission capabilities of 2D materials, promising a paradigm shift in clinical diagnostics and therapeutic applications. Nevertheless, achieving controlled, defect-free coating of 2D materials onto OF surfaces remains a considerable challenge. In response, we propose a novel approach : the direct growth of molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) onto optical fibers using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). This pioneering method presents immense potential in augmenting the capabilities of OF-based technologies, specifically in photonics, by enhancing signal transmission and enabling advanced functionalities. This breakthrough is poised to significantly impact future research and applications in photonics and related fields.

Biography:
Holder of two master’s degrees, the first was in renewable energies and storage in Rabat Morocco, and the second was in multifunctional materials and novel technologies for energy in Tours (France).
