Bringing campus and community together

Scientific life extends beyond lectures and laboratories. The Journal Club and the UM6P CubeSat Initiative are among the activities highlighted in our community’s development, creating opportunities to exchange ideas and explore scientific questions together.

Our outreach ambitions include scientific activities and exhibitions for local high schools, alongside greater visibility for African women in physics. These priorities reflect a commitment to encouraging scientific curiosity and wider participation.

International Masterclasses: Hands on Particle Physics

The Benguerir community page highlighted an international masterclass initiative within the UM6P–CERN programme, inviting high-school students to become physicists for a day and discover particles and the forces of nature.

Our community in the city of Laayoune

Engaging the next generation in science

CPSE’s community outreach in Laayoune connects scientific learning with high-school students and teachers. In collaboration with Fondation Phosboucraa, the college launched a series of scientific activities designed to inspire curiosity and encourage an exchange of knowledge.

Current initiative · Teacher training

Physics Teaching Masterclass

In partnership with Fondation Phosboucraa, this training programme supports high-school physical science teachers from Laayoune in developing their teaching practice through numerical tools, simulation and experimental activities.

The second training week, held from 8 to 12 June, focused on digital tools for physics education: multiphysics and mechanics simulations, RC and RLC circuits, electricity and electronics, and practical numerical work in geometrical and wave optics.

The programme aims to strengthen teachers’ simulation and modelling skills and help them integrate these tools into their classroom teaching.

Experimental Training in Benguerir

The programme’s current stage is the third training week, planned for October and dedicated to experimental activities in Benguerir. This phase builds on the numerical training and brings the focus to hands-on physics practice for the participating teachers from Laayoune.

Computational Physics School

The first phase took place at the Laayoune Learning Centre, bringing together high-school students and teachers for a shared experience of scientific discovery.

The initiative encouraged discussion, learning and a shared interest in scientific exploration, connecting the college with the wider educational community.
