UM6P School of Applied and Engineering Physics part of the KM3NeT Discovery: The first detection of an ultra-high-energy neutrino.

February 12, 2025

The UM6P School of Applied and Engineering Physics is proud to be part of the international KM3NeT (Cubic Kilometre Neutrino Telescope) collaboration, which has recently detected a neutrino with an energy of 220 PeV—the highest-energy neutrino ever observed.

This discovery, made by the ARCA detector in the Mediterranean Sea, provides new insights into extreme astrophysical phenomena and the origins of cosmic rays.

Published in Nature on February 12, 2025, this achievement highlights the significance of international collaboration in advancing our understanding of the universe.

As a place of cutting-edge science, the School of Applied and Engineering Physics is honored to be part of this important research effort.
